What are the causes of depression?

What cause Depression? It is an unusual state of mind and is very common among all of us. It has numerous reasons. Their sources are complex and difficult to understand sometime. A depression may be due to a single cause or multi-causes. But to most of us, the causes of depression are not properly known.
Causes of Depression
Anyways, here are few possible causes for a depression to arise:
  • When one starts suppressing the anger and remaining silent thinking that showing the anger might hurt others around them.
  • Sometimes we do few things which we should not have done but did it as we could not say "no" to it. This failure to be assertive is also a major cause of depression.
  • Few medications which are being used for treatment of some other disorder might have depression as a side effect. Sometimes due to genetic influences, such as a disturbance in hormonal balance, can lead to depression which can be medically solved by having regular anti-depressants.
  • Few medical problems like any thyroid disease might also result in a long term depression.
  • It is common among us that we take the help of alcohol and few other drugs to lessen the toll on our mind. But we fail to understand that these things ultimately make the situation even more worse.
  • When we start comparing ourselves with others, we might create an inferior complex in us. The moment we do this, we are nothing but going into a depressive mood.
  • Some people withdraw themselves from their own society which ultimately makes them alone and end up becoming frustrated and depressed.
  • Sometimes people fail to judge a proper model for their life and instead model themselves into a completely different personality which takes them into a depressed mentality. Hence, we must be careful and take proper decisions at each point of our life.
  • Sometimes unknown and unnecessary stresses may spoil your relationship which ultimately leads into depression.
  • Laziness or in active nature is a great disadvantage to anyone. Sleep for a long time instead of a sound and short duration is also harmful to our body. All these things lead us into depression.
  • Sometimes we feel that we are not satisfied with our present. We constantly expect something else to happen which is quite unusual. In such a case lack of satisfaction, depression results.
  • Now-a-days, the financial crisis has become a major problem of stress for most of us. Finance problems have a severe toll on our body and hence, there is degradation of emotions leading to depression.
  • Some people do not have skills to seek thankfulness, satisfaction and joy in their life. Such people carry depression along with them for a long time in their life.
  • People who had lost their near and dear ones in the recent past are reminded of them during their anniversaries or holidays and hence go into depression. These people deepen their grief. Hence such cases of mental trauma must be resolved to avoid depression.
